Next week - Important

Our Gingerbread house turned out so cute!  The kids had so much fun making it!!!  

Winter class parties are Thursday at 1:35.  I sent home a list of items we need for the party of you are able to help.  Also, we'd love to have you join us!

Lost and Found

Cans - A huge THANK YOU!

Thank you!  Thank you!!!  Thank you!!!!!!  As a class we collected 95 cans!  Thank you so much for all your generosity and showing kindness to others in need.  As a school our goal was 800 cans, and we collected 1,224 cans as a school! This warms my heart.  Thank you once again for helping our kids see the benefit in helping others, as well as giving us the opportunity to count 95 cans!!!

Woo hoo!!!  Our kids rock!

Days of Kindness

On Monday we took off all our hearts from our kindness tree and counted them.  We had 50 hearts!!!  So many acts of kindness...

 

Since Monday the kids have worked really hard showing us their acts of kindness.  Our tree is growing with hearts once again!

Today we made a list of 12 ways we can and do show kindness #12daysofkindness....  I sure do love all the SWEETHEARTS we have in our class!!!  We are so blessed. 

Veterans Day

I come from an Army family.  My dad was a Major, and my husband and brother were sergeants.  My husband and father were also paratroopers.  Veterans Day is always so dear to my heart as I think about all the men and women who give so much to our country.  As we celebrated at Christie we lined the school with American flags.  Every child in the school put a flag out front to welcome and thank our men and women for their service.  

What a beautiful day to honor our service men and women. We even made cards to send to the troops for Thanksgiving!  4th grade spearheads this effort every year.  Thank you 4th grade!!!

Cans

We have collected 36 cans so far for the canned food drive!  Thank you so much for sending them in.  The kids get so excited when we have more cans to count and the look on their face when they get to add it to the cans is so cool!  We look forward to being able to count many more.  

Bookaneer Book Fair

Monday - Talk like a pirate!

Tuesday - Dress like a pirate!

Wednesday - Dress as your favorite jolly book character!

Thursday - Wear your favorite pirate hat or bandana!

Friday - Arrrrrr you thankful for our veterans?  Wear red, white and blue to show your support!

Please make sure to send your child with enough money to cover the book they are purchasing PLUS TAX.

Bus Barn

Watching the excitement in the kid's eyes as we loaded the bus was priceless.  They were so happy to be on the bus and on our way to the Bus Barn.  We had some moms join us and that only added to the excitement for all.

Once we pulled up the excitement heightened.  "There are buses everywhere!!!"

We got off the bus and with giddy glee walked inside the PISD offices to meet Mr. Forrester, Director of Transportation for PISD... such a knowledgeable and kind man.

We had so much fun!!!  What an experience for our kids.  Thank you Suzana Spina, Director of Early Childhood for setting this up and for Mr. Forrester and all the people at the Bus Barn for making it happen!!!

Red Ribbon Week

This week is Red Ribbon Week!

Dress-up/ Theme Days:

     Mon, Oct. 24^th – Turn your back on drugs! (Wear your shirt/clothes backwards.)

     Tues, Oct. 25^th – Athletes must stay drug free & healthy to compete!

                                      (Dress like an athlete/ in sports gear.)

     Wed, Oct. 26^th – Our future is bright without drugs! (Wear BRIGHT clothes.)        

   Thurs, Oct. 27^th – Friends help friends stay healthy! (Twin Day: Dress like a buddy.)

     Fri, Oct. 28^th – Celebrate & Support Red Ribbon Week! (Wear RED.)

Our Pumpkin Patch

It is fall, whether it feels like it outside or not!  I don't know about you, but I am ready for the cooler weather and to leave the 90 degree days behind...

We have been working on our pumpkin patch!  The kids have worked so hard on cutting and gluing their pumpkins.  I am so proud of all the hard work they have accomplished to make our pumpkin patch SENSATIONAL.

Thank you Parents for all the pumpkins you have sent in for our pumpkin patch. Your child is so proud when they show up with a new one to add to the patch.  :)

This week we will be studying apples!  We will be comparing and taste testing different types of apples at the end of the week.  Please have your child bring in one to share with their friends.

Our Name and More!!

We had so much fun with our name today.  I am so impressed with the kids today graphing and writing their name.  Thank you parents!!!  We can tell you are practicing with them at home, and when I ask they say they are using the name cards to practice!  Woooo hoooo!  We are in this together, and it is showing!!!  

Other things to practice at home include:

* Counting to 30

* Recognizing digits 0-9 

* Counting one-to-one correspondence

* Recognizing A-Z upper case and lower         case letters 

* Learning the sounds the letters make

I will be sending home reminders and signing up parents who haven't signed up for a time for our conferences on Monday, October 10th.  I look forward to our time with you talking about your precious child!
